The ERC20 NYM contract deployed by the Gravity Bridge Ethereum smart contract minted the maximum possible amount of Ethereum tokens (a uint256, basically a huuuge number - see here for a little explanation https://medium.com/coinmonks/eli5-uint256-in-solidity-a16f22942166#:~:text=uint256%20is%20non%2Dnegative%20integers,Channel%20get%20daily%20Crypto%20News) on deployment, which is reflected on etherscan.

However, since erc20 tokens can only be unlocked from the bridge contract on the Ethereum side and sent to other Ethereum accounts when NYM are locked up on the gravity bridge cosmos chain, regardless of how many erc20 tokens were minted and held by the Ethereum smart contract, you still have a maximum 1bn circulating amount across both chains

FYI community, there is a bit of ongoing FUD about Gravity Bridge seemingly holding a large number of NYM tokens. This is not actually true, as it was explained a while back here. While we do understand that losing is hard, spreading unnecessary FUD on any Nym channel will result in an immediate ban.
